WHAT IS THE CAPES COLLECTION SYSTEM?

WHAT IS THE CAPES COLLECTION SYSTEM?
The CAPES Collection System is the information registration module for the administrative, training, research and social inclusion infrastructure of postgraduate programs (PPGs) in Brazil. This module is included in the Sucupira Platform, the CAPES management system for the National Postgraduate System (SNPG).
WHAT IS THE CAPES COLLECTION SYSTEM FOR?
The CAPES Collection System has the essential objective of creating the most agile, complete, reliable and safe panorama of the SNPG. This essential objective has three specific objectives:

• Planning: provide a solid qualitative and quantitative basis of the SNPG to CAPES and other competent bodies to identify and correct asymmetries, in addition to planning the expansion of the SNPG; It is
• Transparency: strengthen the transparency of the activities carried out by SNPG participants, providing information about their actions with society.
HOW DOES THE ASSESSMENT WORK?
CAPES is implementing multidimensionality, the new evaluation model for PPG’s, which considers the importance of five elements for evaluation: teaching and learning, impact and relevance for society, internationalization/insertion, innovation and knowledge transfer and knowledge production .
This assessment is carried out every four years (Quadrennial Assessment) and can only be carried out with the support of information provided annually by PPG’s through the CAPES Collection system.
HOW DOES THE CAPES COLLECTION SYSTEM IN GEOGRAPHY WORK?
1. The Secretariat requires professors to update research projects using a specific form.
2. The Program’s Postgraduate Secretariat will contact you by email informing you of the deadline for submitting intellectual productions using the forms.
3. Students, teachers, graduates and post-doctoral students respond to the forms.
4. Teachers, students, graduates and Post-Doctoral Students update their Lattes CVs to import productions.
5. The Secretariat registers, on the Sucupira Platform, all the information received through the forms, as well as the defenses carried out during the period.
6. The Secretariat actively searches the Lattes CVs of those who did not respond to the forms and registers the productions sent.
7. The Coordination uses information from the forms and other sources and consultations to prepare the proposal, an analytical document that considers the entire production of the program, in addition to indicating the highlighted productions, based on which the qualitative evaluation of the program program becomes possible.
