The Graduate Program in Environmental Sciences (PPGCA), with a concentration in Environment and Development, was recommended by CAPES’ Technical-Scientific Council in December 2010. Activities began immediately following accreditation, with the first cohort of students starting classes on April 4, 2011.
Currently linked to CAPES’ Environmental Sciences division, the PPGCA integrates various research groups that collaborate with scholars from both Brazilian and international institutions. In addition, the program engages in teaching, research, and extension activities alongside non-governmental organizations.
Following CAPES’ recommendation and a comprehensive internal reassessment, the program now boasts a faculty of 22 permanent professors and four collaborating professors. Academic activities are structured around two main research lines: (1) Characterization and Conservation of Natural Resources and Biodiversity and (2) Technologies for Addressing Socio-environmental and Educational Issues.
