Program Objectives

The Graduate Program in Environmental Sciences (PPGCA) at UESB is dedicated to disseminating knowledge aimed at scientific, technological, and cultural advancement. Within this context, the program seeks to foster research skills and stimulate the creative capacities of faculty and students across a wide range of disciplines directly and indirectly linked to Environmental Sciences—ultimately striving to enhance environmental quality for society.

In general terms, graduates from PPGCA are expected to operate in an interdisciplinary manner, engaging in teaching, research, and outreach activities that promote socially and environmentally sustainable development. These activities are intended to benefit the wider community through the practical application of their academic training.

More specifically, the program’s objectives are to support the development of knowledge that is:

1. Technological, to assist in solving socio-environmental problems
2. Effective, for the characterization and sustainable use of natural resources
3. Transformative, to foster socio-environmental and educational sustainability
