Notably, the social inclusion of PPGEO-UESB, between 2021/2024 and 2025/2028, was and is being done through the publication of books and articles in journals, through participation in national and international events, through the holding of local, regional, national and international events at the UESB Campus – Vitória da Conquista,
we highlight the holding of the II national meeting of GEca entitled II National Seminar on Geography of Capital Crises, with the participation of researchers from several Brazilian universities, with emphasis on researchers from USP, Unesp, UFMG, UFRJ, among others. see the entire structure and participants here
The thematic seminars of the extension project “Dialogues with the Author” are highlighted, coordinated by Professor Dr. Andrecksa Viana Sampaio. In this project, a sequence of events entitled “Dialogues with the Author” has been held since 2023 to the present date. In 2024, the last event of the year was attended by the author and UFRGS researcher Dr. Nestor Keacher; see the full schedule for this stage here
A series of activities of the extension project “Work, Quilombola Territory and Education in the Countryside” were also held in 2024, during the months of October and November, on the Vitória da Conquista campus. The objective of the project is to encourage reflection on the processes of production of the social life of workers in quilombola territories, with regard to the historical process of formation of the territories, the processes of struggle and resistance, as well as the educational experiences around land and work. with emphasis on the quilombola experiences and rural education.
Another highlight was the NEDET (Extension Center for Territorial Development) Colloquia, events promoted by the Postgraduate Program in Geography (PPGEO) of UESB (Southwest Bahia State University), in partnership with NEDET. In 2024, these thematic colloquia addressed issues related to research and social inclusion, with a focus on territorial development. The most recent event took place on November 19, at the UESB Personal Development Center (CAP).
The 11th UESB Geography Week was also held in 2024, with the participation of students, teachers and graduates of the Program. The 11th Geography Week also promoted social interaction between the program and the various schools in the basic education network of the state of Bahia and the city of Vitória da Conquista, as well as other municipalities in Brazil as a whole.
The Program’s teachers, gradually and increasingly, publishes articles in the most important newspapers in the state and participates in radio (local) and TV (local and national) programs, debating relevant sociocultural, territorial and environmental issues. Another highlight of the Program is the Geopauta Magazine, which has gradually been recognized internationally with indexing in almost all the main journal indexing channels, increasing the impact and insertion of the program. Its impact is currently being measured by several impact meters such as Citefactor, Redalyc, Scielo, Doaj and others.
