SPECIAL ENROLLMENT STUDENTS (CONSEPE Resolution n. 30/2012)
- The Postgraduate Program in Education may accept special enrollment students in elective courses.
- Enrollment of special students will take place when vacancies exist, after the registration process of regular students and at the discretion of the faculty member responsible for the course.
- Special enrollment students may take up to 02 (two) courses, with 01 (one) per semester, in up to 02 (two) academic semesters, consecutive or not.
- The selection of special enrollment students will be the responsibility of the faculty member in charge of the course, based on the analysis of the candidate’s curriculum, undergraduate academic transcript, and written justification for taking the requested course.
- For admission purposes as a special enrollment student, the candidate must apply through the Selection Process specifically designed for this purpose.
This approach allows individuals to experience postgraduate education without full program admission, providing an opportunity to engage with advanced coursework, interact with faculty and regular students, and potentially apply credits toward a degree program if formally admitted later.
What is exactly the status of Special Enrollment Student?
Most of the Postgraduate Programs at UESB offer a unique opportunity called “Special Enrollment” status, which allows individuals who are not formally admitted to the Master’s or Doctoral degree programs to experience postgraduate education by taking selected courses.
Special enrollment students:
- Can register for specific courses offered by the program
- Attend classes alongside regular Master’s and Doctoral students
- Complete the same assignments and evaluations
- Receive official transcripts and credits for completed courses
- May apply these credits toward a degree program if formally admitted later
- Gain valuable insight into academic life at the postgraduate level
This opportunity serves as an entry point for those considering postgraduate studies, allowing them to experience the academic environment, establish connections with faculty members, and determine if pursuing a full degree aligns with their professional goals. It also enables professionals seeking specific knowledge without committing to a complete degree program to benefit from advanced educational offerings.
Special enrollment status is granted on a course-by-course basis, with approval from both the course instructor and program coordination. While these students do not hold the same status as degree-seeking students, they are welcomed as valued members of our academic community during their enrollment in specific courses.
