The Graduate Program in Teaching at the State University of Southwest Bahia, approved by CAPES in 2016, is organized into three research lines and conducts research in the field of teaching. The Program is aimed at graduates from any area of knowledge whose research project is focused on basic education, as the area of concentration is Teaching in Basic Education.
The PPGEn aims to contribute to the improvement of the training of teachers in Basic and Higher Education across various knowledge areas, providing them with tools for analyzing and practicing pedagogy based on solid theoretical and methodological foundations, preparing them to face the challenges related to learning specific concepts as well as values and attitudes necessary for human formation. It also trains researchers and educators for both basic and higher education.
The Program’s mission is to train teacher-researchers at the master’s level in the area of Teaching, addressing the socio-political demands of the State of Bahia and Northeast Brazil through the production of knowledge that is academically, socially, and inclusively relevant.
To achieve this mission, the Program’s vision is to produce knowledge in the area of Teaching, aligned with the UESB’s Institutional Development Plan (PDI), that contributes to the understanding of teaching and learning processes in basic education, integrating different theoretical and methodological frameworks.
The principles that reflect the Program’s mission are:
- Collective work;
- Academic, social, ethical, and political commitment to the formation of graduate students;
- Respect for diversity and social inclusion;
- Valuing the teaching profession, public schools, and public, free, and high-quality education;
- Regionalization and internationalization.
