The Graduate Program in Animal Science at Southwest Bahia State University offers Master’s and Doctorate degrees in Animal Science, with a Focus Area in Ruminant Production. Admissions for both programs are subject to the terms outlined in the official announcement. The program is designed for professionals with higher education degrees in Animal Science, Agronomy, or Veterinary Medicine for the Master’s program, and for those holding a Master’s degree in Agricultural Sciences for the Doctorate program. Its objective is to train qualified professionals for teaching, research, and development activities in the field of Animal Science.
The Master’s program has a minimum duration of 12 months and a maximum of 24 months, while the Doctorate program has a minimum duration of 24 months and a maximum of 48 months.
The Graduate Program in Animal Science (PPZ) was established in 2003, initially offering a Master’s degree with a CAPES evaluation score of 3. In 2008, following an improved CAPES score of 4, the first Doctorate program at UESB was introduced.
Currently, PPZ has 16 supervising professors, of whom 9 have completed postdoctoral studies, and 8 are recipients of the CNPq Research Productivity Grant.
In the most recent CAPES evaluation, the program’s score increased to 5, classifying it as a program of NATIONAL EXCELLENCE.
At present, 31 students are enrolled in the Master’s program and 71 in the Doctorate program.
PPZ has awarded 169 Master’s degrees and 101 Doctorate degrees.
