The Workshop on Genetics, Biodiversity and Conservation (WGBC) is in its eighth edition. Organized by the faculty and students of the Graduate Program in Genetics, Biodiversity and Conservation (PPGGBC), the WGBC aims to reach the academic community and society for debates on current and relevant topics on biodiversity conservation. Running along various lines of knowledge, such as Genetics, Ecology, Paleontology, Taxonomy and Education, in 2019, the WGBC brings in its panel of lecturers and students of PPGGBC and other Postgraduate programs.

The main objectives of the VIII WGBC are: to provide meetings and debates among participants from various areas; promote the dissemination of research and actions developed by teachers and students of PPGGBC; dissemination of research developed by participants through the presentation of panels; discuss the importance of popularizing science; and discuss about postgraduate studies in Brazil.

The event is aimed at the academic community (researchers, professors and students of Biological Sciences and related areas), other professionals related to Biology and related areas, high school students and society.
