US Citizens, join us in a Fulbright experience!

The Fulbright Brazil have at this moment many awards with calls opened for US Citizens share your expertise in a Brazilian University. Choose our Graduate Program and join us!

Our Program is able to applications in two Fulbright Awards:

1) Fulbright All Disciplines Award in Brazil – deadline September, 15, 2025.

Up to 30 awards for Ph.D. researchers (or with other terminal degree) develop a research project, teach, share knowledge and to know the Brazilian culture.

  • Brazil welcomes applicants with no previous experience in the country and at any career level: early, mid-career, and senior candidates.
  • There is no need to have advanced skills in Portuguese. In most cases, English will be sufficient.
  • Applicants can propose an appropriate host institution.
  • Award start dates can be from July 2026 through May 2027.
  • The awards can total two, three, or four months long

2) U.S. Student: Study & Research Award – deadline October, 07, 2025.

Up to 30 awards for U.S. citizens with Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees can apply. Doctoral students are also welcome to apply. Program participants are expected to have at least an intermediate level of Portuguese by the start of the grant. Portuguese language skills are necessary not only for the development of the proposed project but also for settling in easily and communicating on a daily basis.

 

PPGECAL Graduate Program offer conditions to develop research projects in many fields related to Food Science and Engineering, including:

  • detection of food adulteration and fraud by spectroscopy and chemometrics;
  • detection of food contaminants by chromatography and spectroscopy;
  • thermal analysis and rheological properties of foods;
  • enzymes and proteins purification by aqueous two-phase systems, activated carbons and polymeric monolithic matrices;
  • development of active, intelligent and biodegradable films for food packaging;
  • enzyme production by solid-state fermentation;
  • soluble fiber production in a biorefinery concept;
  • development of chocolates;
  • development of cheeses with vegetable rennets;
  • development of low-cost biosensors;
  • and much more!
