The UESB Graduate Program in Food Engineering and Science (PPGECAL) is the only one in the Food Science Area with a doctorate located outside a capital city in the Northeast, North and Central-West of the country and one of only two in these regions with an area of concentration in food engineering, which demonstrates its importance and responsibility for the region.

The Graduate Program in Food Engineering and Science at the Southwest Bahia State University offers Masters and Doctorate courses in Food Engineering and Science, with areas of concentration in Food Engineering and Food Science. The program is aimed at professionals with a degree in Engineering, Exact Sciences, Agrarian Sciences and other related fields. The program aims to research, train and educate highly qualified personnel, using the fundamental principles of Engineering Science applied to the study of the phenomena of transformations, operations and processes involved in agroindustry. The Masters course has a minimum duration of 12 and a maximum of 24 months, and the Doctorate course has a minimum duration of 36 and a maximum of 48 months.
